What to do when your new plant arrives.

Updated: Sep 30

It's a common practice to repot plants when you first bring them home. We strongly advise against doing this for many reasons.

  • Leave the plant alone! As much as we understand the urge to touch, feel, and uproot your new beauty, control yourself. Give it time to settle in and get used to its new environment and surroundings. Adding repotting stress to the transition period will increase the risk of the plant going into shock.

  • Place the plant in a spot with plenty of indirect bright light. We strongly recommend a grow light for variegated plants (especially in the winter).

  • Choose an air-calm spot. This means away from any door/vent opening, any where that have air draft coming through causing wind movement or temperature fluctuation.

  • Light watering! All of our plants come in clear plastic pots. You will be able to see how wet/dry the medium is and water accordingly. Moist is best, no standing water. For cutting that is rooting in water, you can change out fresh water once a week until there are enough roots to be potted.

  • Most of our plants already come in a pot that is most appropriate for their root size. There is no need to repot until the roots take over. If repotting is needed, it can be done after 1 week.

  • Most tropical plants love humidity, a plant cabinet is the most ideal. Humidifier is the next best thing. However, if you cant accommodate, no need to stress. The plant will slowly adapt itself to your home condition.

Thank you for reading. We wish you the best of luck with your new plant baby! <3
